Successful completion of six inspections in 2025
In 2025, CEPS successfully carried out off-line inspections with a total length of 64 km on six sections of long-operated gas pipelines DN 700, DN 500 and DN 300 operated by GasNet and Pražská plynárenská Distribuce.
Each inspection was performed using the standard combination of ultrasonic, magnetic and geometric inspection tools supplied by a single vendor, ROSEN. This approach enabled subsequent synergistic evaluation of the measured data using mutually interconnected evaluation algorithms.
Prior to the inspections, CEPS verified the sufficient piggability of the pipelines for inspection tools, including the detection and localisation of impassable parts. The pipelines were then thoroughly cleaned of dust, corrosion products, various construction debris (such as wooden beams, welding electrodes and other metallic objects, remnants of pipeline interconnection balloons and residual water), oil condensates and, in several cases, also of different forms of viscous deposits.
This cleaning was necessary to ensure that the tens of thousands of cubic metres of water used to propel the inspection tools through the pipelines would not become contaminated by remaining impurities when pumped into the pipeline. Consequently, the water could be legally discharged back into surface waters — based on water management permits issued for this purpose — without the need for subsequent treatment.
During the works, CEPS also applied several new cleaning and pumping procedures that increased operational efficiency and accelerated the overall execution of the activities.
